Blocked dollar bank accounts of companies associated with the business group Renova, owned by the Russian oligarch. The value of frozen assets reaches two billion dollars.

As a result of US sanctions against the Russian oligarch Victor Vekselberg, the assets of his business group Renova, worth $ 1.5 to $ 2 billion, were frozen. On April 21, Reuters reported citing sources.

In particular, dollar bank accounts of companies that are controlled by Vekselberg are blocked.

In addition, for a while the salary accounts of a number of employees of the Swiss branch of Renova were blocked, but the blockage was lifted after the necessary checks were made.

Renova, whose headquarters is in Moscow and has a subsidiary in Zurich, intends to keep its Swiss holdings.

According to sources, the company and Vekselberg are seeking the assistance of the Swiss authorities in solving business issues, adding that the government helped withdraw Sulzer from sanctions, which bought out five million of its shares from Renova in order to avoid them.

Recall, on April 6, the United States imposed new sanctions on seven major Russian businessmen, 14 state companies, 17 officials of Russian employees, as well as against one Russian arms trading company and its associated bank.

The losses of Russian billionaires a day after the introduction of new US sanctions exceeded $ 15 billion.
